Conceiving a baby can be a really wonderful thing. But the truth is: there are many couples now who have tried and failed repeatedly. If you and your partner are both healthy reproductive-wise, then the main problem probably lies in the fact that the baby making process does not coincide with your fertile time hence you are not getting pregnant.

According to various studies, it’s known that the best time to try to conceive is when you are ovulating, or releasing an egg cell into the fallopian tube. Although there are many tools that can be used to predict the onset of ovulation like basal thermometers, ovulation calculators, and ovulation tests, sometimes it can be challenging to pinpoint ovulation specially if your period does not arrive on-the-dot, when expected. Unfortunately, a very large percentage of women have irregular monthly periods however one very good thing to note is that there are other ways to predict when a woman is especially fertile. Some physical ovulation symptoms can be carefully monitored, and be used as a sign that it is time to do the baby dance. Here are some of the more commonly seen or felt ovulation symptoms you should watch out for:

A vaginal, mucous like discharge. An especially thick clear, slippery fluid similar in consistency to raw egg whites can be seen or felt when a woman goes to the bathroom to urinate. This can be attributed to the changes that the cervix undergoes during the height of the ovulation period. In some cases, this can be combined with a certain sharp pain coming from one side of the body, usually at the lower abdominal area. This condition is called Mittelschmerz and this signifies that an ovum or egg cell has recently been released into the fallopian tube.

Food craving or incessant hunger. Some women find themselves especially ravenous about 7 to 15 days before their menstruation. This is actually the estimated time when fertility is at its peak. There are women who suddenly seek quite salty or sweet foods, while there are those who just want to continue eating all throughout the day. Night food cravings are also noted during this time.

Tenderness in the breast area. Some women experience tenderness, or even deep-seated pains in their mammary glands. There are also those who feel their nipples aching. People oftentimes attribute this to the onset of menstruation, but it can also be one of the most obvious ovulations symptoms to watch out for.

As you can see, though you may still be trying to figure out when you are ovulating, there are signs that your body gives that will help you pinpoint your fertile ovulation cycle as well as tools that you can use to track when ovulation actually occurs.
